Chimpoulis & Hunter is currently seeking to hire a 2 to 3 Year-Attorney, preferably with experience in the medical malpractice defense arena or, in the alternative, general defense litigation.
Chimpoulis & Hunter is an insurance defense law firm located in Plantation, Broward County, Florida, providing representation in Medical Malpractice cases. We represent physicians and medical groups throughout the southern and middle region of the State of Florida. At Chimpoulis & Hunter we work under a team approach inclusive of Attorneys, Registered Nurses, Paralegals, Legal Assistants and Litigation Support Specialists, to bring over three decades of experience servicing medical malpractice insurance carriers and their insureds.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will be handling cases during the 90-day presuit process under 766, Florida Statutes which would include attending initial client meetings, answering and propounding discovery, participating in presuit mediations and preparing status reports to carriers. The candidate will also be handling cases through the litigation phase inclusive of preparing motions, propounding and answering all types of discovery (interrogatories, production requests, admissions), attending hearings, reporting case status to carriers and, participating in depositions, mediations, arbitrations and trials.
Qualifications:
Licensed member of the Florida Bar and in good standing
Strong legal research and excellent writing skills
Persuasive oral advocacy
Ability to provide excellent customer service to our clients through conferences and reports
Have a clear and concise communication style
Must be a self-starter and goal-oriented with a focus on long-term career goals
Ability to respond timely to case and reporting deadlines
Ability to work in-person at the Plantation, Florida office
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Prepare outgoing substantive pleadings, motions and discovery
* Prepare responses to pleadings, motions and discovery
* Communicate in a highly effective manner with team members and clients
* Prepare reports and letters to clients relative to the on-going status of a case
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high case volume
